I was honored to be one of the judges for the National Trumpet Competition that was held this year at Metropolitan State University in Denver, Colorado. Hearing these wonderful trumpeters is a pleasure, and catching up with some old friends makes it even more special. I was especially proud of three of my recent graduates, who made the semifinal round of the competition: Dillon Parker, California State University Long Beach (Graduate Solo Division), Nate Stoerzinger, New England Conservatory (Trumpet Ensemble Division), and Cory Driscoll, University of Arizona (Trumpet Ensemble Division). I also was very happy to see my good friend Denny again...founder and executive director of NTC. My students and I look forward to visiting him in DC next semester!
